In August of 2016, GOAT raised $5 Million in initial funding.
The team behind GOAT originally worked on an app called GrubWithUs, that would allow users to eat with strangers. After the app didn't take off, GrubWithUs pivoted to GOAT, a sneaker marketplace. The GOAT app was officially launched in 2015.
The core concept of this app is focused on a way to exchange sneakers through an eBay-like system with new or used sneakers available to purchase from a plethora of verified sellers. The marketplace is accessible from the web, iOS, or Android.
