History
The team behind GOAT originally worked on an app called GrubWithUs, that would allow users to eat with strangers.
After the app didn't take off, GrubWithUs pivoted to GOAT, a sneaker marketplace.
The GOAT app was officially launched in 2015.
On August 29, 2016, GOAT received $5 million dollars in funding from a Series A round; Matrix Partners was the lead investor.[1]
On February 7, 2017, they received $25 million in a Series B round, led by Accel Partners, in an effort to expand its marketplace.[1]
On February 8, 2018, they received $60 million in a Series C round, led by Index Ventures.[1]
On February 7, 2019, GOAT Group received $100 million from Foot Locker in a corporate round.[1]

The core concept of this app is focused on a way to exchange sneakers through an eBay-like system with new or used sneakers available to purchase from a plethora of verified sellers.
