Gloria J. Browne-Marshall is a professor of Constitutional Law at John Jay College (City University of New York) and a founding member of the Gender Studies program. She is a prolific writer and Playwright. She is also a legal correspondent for the Milwaukee Courier Newspaper and WBAI radio 99.5FM, her reportage is on the Supreme Court of the United States.[4]
Career
Gloria J. Browne-Marshall is a civil rights Attorney and has litigated cases for the Southern Poverty Law Center, Community Legal Services of Philadelphia and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.
She is the Founder and Director of The Law and Policy Group, Inc.
Gloria has provided legal commentary on some of the Supreme Court's decisions in cases like the Mueller investigation, police shootings and controversial constituional questions and issues, for several news media including: CNN, WVON, CBS, MSNBC, NPR, France 24 and other newspapers in the United States[1]
Books
Gloria has authored a number of books.
She is the author of:
"The Voting Rights War: The NAACP and the Ongoing Struggle for Justice,"
"Race, Law, and American Society: 1607 to Present" and
"The Constitution: Major Cases and Conflicts."
Her forthcoming book is titled "She Took Justice" (City Lights) about Black Women and the law from warrior Queen Nzingha to today's activists.
She intends to accompany the book with a documentary movie titled: "She Took Justice".[18]
Award
Gloria J. Browne-Marshall has been the recipient of several honors including
the Ida B. Wells-Barnett Justice Award for her work with civil rights, social justice and women's equality issues and
the Wiley College Women of Excellence in Law award.
