Gillian Bradford

Gillian Bradfordworks for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). [1] Bradford is the Bureau chief and has been since 2014. [1] She is also a partner of Bukalong Enterprises, a beef production company based in Bombala, New South Wales. [1] She has also made an appearance on one episode of LateLine in 2001. [2]

Career

Gillian Bradford has worked for Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) since 1999. She began her career with the company as a Journalist and a Producer. She started reporting for ABC News and LateLine and was ABC's 7.30 Parliament House Political Producer for three consecutive years. In 2002, she was promoted to the position of New Zealand's Correspondent. Here, she opened for the ABC's New Zealand Bureau in Auckland, New Zealand. She was given assignments across Figi, Tonga, Easter Island, Soloman Islands, and most notably the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Sri Lanka. [1]

In 2008, Bradford was relocated to Sydney, Australia where she became a producer of ABC's four part documentary series titled, The Howard Years . [14] After less than a year of working on the documentary, she became the Network Editor of ABC's HQ on the news desk. After two years at this position, she became the Federal Elections producer in Canberra, Australia. After less than a year, she was then promoted to the Bureau Chief at the Canberra Parliament house, where she currently works. [1]

Bradford is an alumni of the University of Canberra. She graduated with her Bachelor of Journalism. [1] She then went on to study at the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the nation's leading organization for directors, which focuses on making a positive impact on society and the economy by promoting professional director education. [16] At the AICD, she studied among the 35,000 other diverse students and learned the disciplinary techniques needed to succeed at directing and producing. Gillian specifically studied Activities and Societies. [1]

Volunteer Work

Bradford is an active member in her community.

She began volunteering in 2012 with The Big Issue, a street newspaper published on behalf of, and sold by, homeless people. [15] She assisted with the establishment of this paper in larger regional centers. In 2013, she became a fundraising volunteer with the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation. She still volunteers with this organization today. From October 2015 to November 2016, she volunteered as a mentor for the Women in Media (ACT). [1]

Social Media

Bradford regularly uses the sites LinkedIn and Twitter. Her username on LinkedIn is 'Gillian Bradford'**and on Twitter her username is '@bradders2'*.*On Twitter, she posts pictures from events that she has attended, such as, #fashfest, the Australian regional debate, and the International Women's Day breakfast. She also tweets ABC's article links to her 2,487 followers. [13] On her LinkedIn page, information on her education, occupation, and life can be found. [1] Bradford also interacts with followers of ABC by 'liking' their posts and even replying to questions on articles or the corporation as a whole.
