On Saturday July 21, 2018, Atkins was arrested and held on suspicion of murder in lieu of $2 million bond. He is accused of leading police on a car chase, then crashing into a utility pole in front of Trader Joe's and ran inside brandishing his weapon. [undefined]
A standoff later ensued at the Trader Joe's. Store manager Melyad Corado was killed as she was exiting the supermarket during the shootout. [undefined]
