Gary Rogers is a skateboarder from the Bay Area, CA who is the host of skateline, a show produced by Thrasher. [undefined]

Background

Rogers grew up in East Oakland and moved around a few other places throughout the East Bay. [undefined]

As a little boy, he was unruly and quarrelsome toward authorities.

His parents would punish him for his disobedience until he realized to be more responsible and smarter in making better decisions.

In third grade he played in the basketball squad, but stopped playing because he never had the grades.

Skateboarding

His early experience of getting into skateboarding came through the cultural experience of watching Rocket Power and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. His first skateboard, a No Fear board, was bought in K-Mart by his mother, and by the time he was in ninth grade one of his friends gave him the gift of an Anti-Hero board and began to ride it everyday - and learned to become a skateboarder. Learning how to skate became his focus more than academia. [undefined]

Skateline

His friend and owner of Metro skateshop in Concord, California that he frequently visited thought of putting together

a show.

After the first show, they were contacted by Tony Hawk's Ride Channel, and joined their medium by continuing to make short segment videos about skateboarders. He established himself as a well-known person in the skateboarding media. [undefined]

He became the host of the show Skateline which is produced by Thrasher (magazine) because he grew around the corner from their headquarters. After he made the switch, Tony Hawk unfollwed him on Instagram. He is now a well-known Skateboarding enthusiast by demonstrating the knowledge he has for the sport. In the show, he gives insight about up-and-coming skaters and reviews their recent mixtapes and parts. He delivers comedic insults through roasting in good faith, and often praises skaters by providing witty commentary. He delivers raw, passionate, and entertaining treatment in the sport of skateboarding. [undefined]

Being committed to Skateline has allowed him to become closer to professional skaters in the sport, and has improved his own personal skateboarding by learning from the best.
