Bastille Day Attack 2016 in Nice, France
On July 14th, 2016 a white lorry began driving through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day on the Promenade des Anglais. The truck rammed through crowds in the southern city of Nice on the French Riviera, killing 84 people and injuring approximately a hundred. [undefined] [undefined]
A gunman in a downtown restaurant was also shot to death by police.
The man is believed to have been in the lorry with the driver and fled on foot to a restaurant called Le Buffalo nearby, where he was killed by an officer with a handgun.
Police identified the gunman as someone known to be a terrorist threat.
There were guns and grenades in the truck.
Videos posted online showed panicked people running from the scene in fear, while witnesses reported terrified onlookers throwing themselves into the sea to escape the crush of bodies.
Victims were reportedly mown down over a 6km stretch of road.
Gunfire between the driver and the police occurred following.
One of the huge implications that this was a terrorist attack is that in the past Al-Qaeda has urged the idea of running people over with trucks claiming it is an efficient form of attack.

According to police, the attacker is known to the police for common law crimes, but not for terrorism offenses.
