FlightCar is currently operating at 17 airport locations.

The company was founded by Shri Ganeshram, Kevin Petrovic and Rujul Zaparde in early 2013 and based in San Francisco, California.

[1] They built the company through The Brandery, a Startup accelerator in Cincinnati, OH, before graduating from Y Combinator's Winter 2013 class.

FlightCar lets people parking at the airport rent their vehicles out to other approved travelling members.

Every rental is insured up to $1 million, and every renter is pre-screened.

Members get free parking, a car wash, and get paid if their car is rented out.

FlightCar had a wide range of Investors, including venture backers GGV Capital, First Round Capital, Comcast Ventures, General Catalyst Partners and Andreessen Horowitz, as well as strategic money from Softbank, Priceline, and Tencent.

It also attracted high-profile individual investors: Facebook's Eduardo Saverin, Airbnb's Brian Chesky, and Hollywood personalities Ryan Seacrest and Ashton Kutcher.

The company was acquired by Mercedes Benz in 2014 to become part of Mercedes' innovation lab for mobility services.
