Education
Falon attended Imperial College London and went on to study at Santa Clara University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance, Computer science, and Entrepreneurship. She also considers her six years at Google to be an extremely educational experience. [11]
Career
Fatemi first interned at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP. But after taking a class with serial entrepreneur Mary Furlong, she was recruited to do a research a research intern for Microsoft. It was there that she was given the recommendation that eventually lead to her role at Google. Fatemi was hired by Google at age 19, making her their youngest hire ever. Falon told Business Insider that she was awestruck when she first reached Google Campus: [12] [13]
"I just remember there was food that was just free and was amazing.
It felt like a Michelin star experience. Everyone was very young, it was sunny, they had a band, people were throwing a football. I was like, what is this? Is this a resort?. People were playing MC Hammer in the background. I had never seen anything like it."
She moved over to business development and partnerships at YouTube in 2009 and stayed there for two years. Her next gig was as the head of business development at Firespotter Labs where she worked with startups like Switch.co, and Dialpad, FundersClub, and Livestar. During that time she also worked with MkII Ventures as a strategy consultant. She also spent a few years contributing to Forbes, writing about tech and companies on the front lines of Silicon Valley. She has also written for Entrepreneur Magazine, Wired, Business Insider, Fast Company, VentureBeat, Re/code, TechCrunch, The Huffington Post and more.
In 2015, she founded the powerhouse AI-as-a-service platform, Node.io.
The team consists of Alta Vista creator Louis Monier and Michael Radovancevich of Taleo and OpenX. They have received over $16 million in funding from Mark Cuban, NEA, Avalon Ventures, and JetBlue Technology Ventures. [7]
Accolades
Fatemi has been recognized as one of Goldman Sachs top 100 intriguing entrepreneurs. In 2017, Falon was dubbed "The Rainmaker" as one of the 50 women on Marie Claire's New Guard list comprised of "female visionaries changing the world we live in." In 2018 she was featured in Fast Company as one of the top 100 Most Creative People in Business. In the SFBusiness Times she was hailed as one of the 40 under 40 visionaries changing the bay area and the world. [4]
