On December 3, 2016, Almandinger was arrested on suspicion of murder in the first degree and kidnapping of David Grunwald. ^[0]He will be tried as an adult and is scheduled for a court appearance on December 10, 2016. ^[0]

The remains of David Grunwald were discovered three weeks after he disappeared on November 13, 2016.

^[0]Grunwald told his girlfriend he was going to see his friend Erick Almandinger after he drove her home on November 13, 2016.

He never returned home.

Almandinger was charged with first and second degree murder murder and kidnapping. Dominic Johnson, 16, Devin Peterson, 18, and Austin Barrett, 19, and Bradley Renfro, 16, are also facing multiple charges in connection with Grunwald’s kidnapping and murder. ^[1]
