Emma Walmsley

Emma Walmsley is the CEO of GlaxoSmithKline.

She was previously President of GSK Consumer Healthcare and a member of GSK’s Corporate Executive Team.

[1]On March 31, 2017, she will formally succeed Andrew Witty as GSK CEO when he retires.

Emma joined GSK in May 2010, becoming President of the Consumer Healthcare business in October 2011.

Under Emma’s leadership the business has a new strategic direction to become the first and best Fast Moving Consumer Healthcare company, driven by science and values, combining the very best of GSK’s scientific knowledge with the speed and marketing excellence of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods world.

Emma has focused the business around a refined portfolio of leading global brands in four categories: Oral Health, Nutrition, Wellness and Skin Health and continues to drive global expansion in fast growing emerging markets including India, China and Nigeria.

Prior to joining GSK, Emma worked with L'Oreal for 17 years where she held a variety of marketing and general management roles in Paris, London and New York.

From 2007 she was based in Shanghai as General Manager, Consumer Products, L’Oreal China.
