Career
Ely Mendez started in the Billo´s Caracas Boys in 1971, Orchestra with which I was to be known, doing a front line artistic work with two greats of music in the country: José Rafael García Añez (Cheo García) and Memo Morales. That same year he recorded his first album, directed by the Dominican Billo Frómeta, this performer went through the most important orchestras in Venezuela in the eighties, when tropical music reigned, however, he could not escape the influence of the billos, which would return. Méndez, was one of the singers with more years in the orchestra, one of the most outstanding voices of the bolero and also recognized internationally.
Méndez has among his most representative songs "Pasito Tun Tun", "Hey", "Nuevo Circo", "Se me fue María", "El baúl en la calle" and the song "Caracas Pórtate Bien", which was the last composition of Billo Frometa
Ely Méndez has recorded more than 120 songs since he came to the orchestra, he entered when Mosaic No. 29 was released, the mosaic was a way of pleasing the public that demanded many songs in each presentation.
