Elias was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles, California. He is a student at San Fernando Academy, the Cesar Chavez Learning Academy.
Elias is considered by many in his family to be a quiet boy.
He enjoys playing Video games, and his favorite console is Xbox. Often after he gets home from school, he likes to play.
On February 17th, 2017, at around 1 p.m., he was last seen in the 1000 block of Arroyo Street leaving his school, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. He was walking back to his grandmother's house while during a storm. Elias had disappeared while walking to his grandmother's home after school during a powerful storm. [1]
His family considers it a bit strange that he would run away as is not in his nature to do so.
He has the habit of always coming home after school.
One Monday February 20th, 2017, the LAPD were seeking help from the public to locate the missing boy.
Detectives from the LAPD's Mission Station asked anyone with information regarding the boy's whereabouts to call them at (818) 838-9800.
Death
On Saturday, February 25th, 2017, Elias' body was found near the Los Angeles River. While wlaking abck to his grandmother's house, as was reported, his route included crossing the Pacoima Wash, which leads to the area where a volunteer searcher found the boy's body 18 miles downriver.
Speaking near the river in Los Feliz on Saturday, Capt. Peter Casey of the Los Angeles Police Department described the condition of the body.
"It's difficult to talk about because it was a hard thing to see... but obviously beat up from the canal and the water.
The water is flowing fast right now, but on Friday the water was about 70 miles an hour."
Garcetti said he instructed his Crisis Response Team, which has met with Elias' family, "to do everything possible to help them through what is surely their worst nightmare."
