Elaine Byrne
Dr. Elaine Byrne is an academic, consultant, and journalist.
She currently works as a columnist for the Sunday Business Post, as well as a governance consultant to the European Commission. [8]Originally hailing from Carlow, Dr. Byrne has also spent time working in Dublin. Dr. Byrne is continuously writing and contributing to Irish media, and also takes time to lecture and present papers at conferences all over the world.
Career
Dr. Byrne has worked as a governance consultant in a variety of capacities relating to her research interests.
These areas include but are not limited to the economy, international politics, Irish history and Irish politics.
With these areas as her focus, Dr. Byrne has been called as an expert witness before the Irish Banking Inquiry, Irish and British Parliamentary Committees and the Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO). [8]She was also appointed by the Taoiseach to be a sitting member of the Seanad Working Group on Reform. [8]Dr. Byrne has also worked as a governance consultant for the United Nations Anti-Corruption Unit, World Bank, Transparency International and Global Integrity. [8]
As a journalist, Dr. Byrne is a regular contributor to many journals and newspapers based in Ireland.
Her contribution to Irish media can be found in publications such as the Sunday Independent, Irish Times, Sunday Times, The Guardian, and the Sunday Business Post. [8]
Dr. Byrne has also held positions such as Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales, and has lectured in Irish Politics and Comparative Political Reform at Trinity College Dublin. [3]
Education
Dr. Byrne completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of Limerick in History, Politics and Social Studies. [3]She then completed a Diploma in Legal Studies from the Honorable Society of King's Inns, as well as a PhD in History and Politics also from the University of Limerick. [3]Most recently, Dr. Byrne became a Barrister at Law through the Honorable Society of King's Inns. [3]
Personal
Dr. Byrne is a triathlete, and regularly participates in Ironman competitions.
[8] She loves to travel the world as well as explore Ireland.
Dr. Byrne is also a fan of rugby.
