Edwardnisha Raiford is a 22-year old resident of New Orleans, Louisiana.

On September 19, 2016 Edwardnisha Raiford stabbed a 9-month old infant during a fight involving knives and guns the St.

Roch of New Orleans.

Edwardnisha was arrested around 1 p.m by New Orleans Police Department officers on charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery.

She was then booked into the Orleans Parish jail at 5 p.m. ^[1]

Edwardnisha told detectives that she tried to stab another woman but accidentally stabbed the baby the woman was holding.

The incident happened Monday afternoon outside of a Jack's Meat Market store near the intersection of Mandeville and North Derbigny streets.

Based on the investigation, officers learned that a fight had occurred between two groups of people at the location.

During the altercation, members of one of the groups brandished knives and another from the same group fired gunshots.

A total of four victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the knives.

The victims included three females, including the 9-month-old baby, and one male.

No injuries were reported from the gunfire.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and detectives are working to identify additional suspects.
