Dorothy Bruns is a resident of Staten Island, New York. ^[1]

She is a mother of a son, whom she shares photos of on Facebook.

On Monday March 5, 2018, Bruns allegedly killed a 1-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old girl near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Ninth Street in Park Slope at around 12:10 p.m.

The two children were walking with their mothers, one of whom appeared to be pregnant. The younger child was dragged in his stroller about 100 feet.

Police stated the victims were taken to Methodist Hospital where the children were pronounced dead.

Two 34-year-old women were listed in stable condition.

Bruns told police she had a medical condition, and was taken to a nearby hospital.

She also told officers that she was creeping up a bit at the intersection in anticipation of the red light changing and then accidentally hit the accelerator.

Authorities stated that Bruns’s driver’s license was suspended.

The white Volvo sedan she crashed had also been cited 12 times in two years, including four times for running a red light and four for speeding in a school zone.
