Diana Zacarias
Diana Zacarias was a student at Northwestern University studying industrial engineering technology. She was born and raised in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Disappearance
On April 2nd, Zacarias went missing after arriving on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park via the Arizona Shuttle and was dropped off at Maswick Lodge on the west side of Grand Canyon Village. She had visited Yaki point and Lookout Studio before she went missing.
She had taken a photograph before she went missing that allowed officials to get a start in their multi-day search.
The national park comb the area on the air and on the ground, looking for clues as to her whereabouts.
Her father, Alex Zacarias, past out fliers as he conducted his own search.
Remains Found
On July 30th, 2016, Rangers conducting a training found the remains.
Officials of the National Park were hoping to find her alive.
Her remains were transferred to to the Coconino County Medical Examiner for a positive identification.
There are approximately 12-15 deaths a year in the Grand Canyon.
