Derick Waller is a reporter for WABC channel 7 Eyewitness News team in New York. He joined WABC in September 2017. Derick was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia[1].
Early Life and Education
Derick's a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with degrees in journalism and political science.
In his spare time, he loves exploring food and culture right here in New York City and around the world.
Derick was born and raised in Richmond, VA, but he's no stranger to New York City.
His father lives in Queens, where Derick spent a significant amount of time growing up.
Career
Derick Waller started his career in WTVR CBS as intern from December 2009 to June 2010, where he assisted with night side news production, generated story ideas and shadowed reporters and photographers.
Subsequently, he joined WVIR-TV NBC 29 in Charlottesville, Richmond, where he worked as a night general assignment and state capital Bureau reporter from August 2010 to August 2012.
Later Derick worked with WNCN in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina in August 2012 as a Reporter and left in August 2015.
After he left WNCN, he then joined WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio as a reporter from August 2015 to September 2017.
