Early Life

One of Derek Alldred's victims, Cindi Pardini, tracked down some of his childhood friends who said that Alldred grew up in a wealthy suburb ​ of San Francisco, California. They also said that he had been trouble from an early age. [undefined]​

Criminal History

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, Derek Alldred was sentenced to 24 years in federal prison ​ in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ​ after posing as a Navy Officer, Doctoral Student, and other identities to scam women he dated. [1]​ [undefined]​ [undefined]​ [undefined]​

On December 21, 2017, Derek Alldred pleaded guilty ​ to mail fraud ​ and two counts of aggravated identity fraud ​. Alldred was sentenced to the maximum of 288 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant. Alldred was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $254,892.41. [1]​ [undefined]​ [undefined]​

According to information presented in court, in April 2017, in The Colony, Texas ​, Alldred began a relationship with a victim that me met online through an online dating ​ website. Alldred presented himself as a United States Navy ​ Pilot, a United States Department of Defense ​ Analyst ​, and a Professor ​ at Southern Methodist University ​. He was used the name Richard Tailor. During the time he was in the relationship with the victim Alldred used her credit card ​ to order various items and have them delivered to him at her residence. He also used the card to make various charges in The Colony, Texas. After the victim became suspicious, she discovered Alldred's real identity of Derek Mylan Alldred. By this time, Alldred had fraudulently charged over $12,000.00 on her credit card. The victim filed a police report prompting an investigation of the fraudulent conduct. The investigation revealed that during the time Alldred was defrauding the victim in The Colony, he was also in a relationship with another victim in Dallas, Texas ​. Alldred would tell one victim he had to go out of town to work as a pilot, and then have the other victim pick him up at the airport. Alldred also stole money from the second victim. Investigators later determined Alldred committed this same offense across the United States. They found that Alldred had victimized more than 25 women who were located in California ​, Nevada ​, Minnesota ​, and Hawaii ​. [1]​ [undefined]​ [undefined]​

According to interviews with victims by KARE 11 ​ and The Atlantic, Alldred is estimated to have stolen over $1 million from the more than 25 victims. Alldred stole over $200,000 from one victim, Linda Dyas, 401(k)  retirement account after offering her to help move some accounts over when she changed jobs. He also stole $178,000 from another victim who was a tech industry professional who declined to be identified. [undefined]​ [undefined]​

“This defendant ​ left a trail of tears, emotional devastation, and financial ruin behind him,â€� said District Attorney ​ Joseph D. This case was investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service ​ (NCIS), The Colony Police Department, and the Fort Worth Police Department ​’s Fugitive Unit. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney William R. Tatum. [1]​ Â
