On December 4th, 2016, as Denise passed through the Los Angeles International Airport screening conducted by TSA, the agents refused to let her go until they thoroughly inspected her. One of the agents tried to search her breasts and Denise did not allow her as she is going through breast cancer. She was offered a room for the search, but she could not walk into it barefoot due to the sores on her feet and she is not permitted to use the boots. She informed the agents that she didn't have socks on and had to sit down during the shoe inspection due to the treatment she's going through. At the TSA pre-check it is not required to wear shoes while going through security. [1]
She wears a wig, has a port in her chest, and cannot walk without her feet covered due to sores from her treatment.
Albert says:
"forceab[ly] and aggressively put her hands down my jeans in the back... aggressively attempted to do a body cavity search in public... I understand security, and I understand that these people have a job to do.
I understand they protect everyone of us everyday.
These two people were out of line."
Since the incident, TSA launched an investigation into the incident and said they would review the training for their 3,000 employees on how to properly conduct screenings for people with medical issues and disabilities.
