Early Life & Education
Obilor attended Johnson County Community College in Kansas in 2009. One year later, she transferred to University of Kansas, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2012. [16]
While at the University of Kansas, she worked on the student television station KUJH. She would broadcast special news updates that featured top stories from the campus newspaper, The Daily Kansan as well as operate the audio board and teleprompter for news shows. [16]
Career
Traffic Reporting
Obilor transitioned from being a production technician at KHSB-TV to a traffic reporter in 2013.
Since then, she has worked for news stations in Las Vegas (KLAS-TV) and Dallas (WFAA).
In July 2014, Obilor became an anchor with CBS's Channel 8 in Las Vegas.
While doing so, she also hosted and produced a social media segment called, "Trending now" and a franchised segment called, "What's Driving You Crazy?"[21]
In October 2017, she joined WFAA's Channel 8 morning show Day Break as a Traffic Ensemble Anchor. In addition to traffic duties, she hosts a segment on social media called "Speed Feed." [14]
In October 2019, Demetria left Channel 8.
She hasn’t specified her future plans yet.[32]

"I'm not a 16/18, but even if I was, for you to try to call out my size like that to hurt me or discriminate against me, I'm not for that," Demetria told NBC News.[1]
Previously, in summer 2017, while a traffic reporter in Las Vegas, Demetria shared a screenshot of an email from a viewer who said her natural hairstyle must be hard to clean and "smell bad." Chance the Rapper retweeted a post about Obilor that has been liked over 100,000 times. Meghan McCain thanked Obilor for "speaking out against body shaming."[1]
