Darwin Sorrells Jr is a member of the Gangster Disciples in the South Side, Chicago.

He worked full time at a a warehouse and has a child.

He lives at 7500 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the Parkway Garden Homes, a low-income neighborhood which is known for its high rate of gang violence.

Darwin's younger brother Derren Sorrells is also a member of the Gangster Disciples.

On August 26, 2016 Darwin Sorrells Jr and his brother Derren Sorrells fatally shot Nykea Aldridge, a mother of four and the cousin of Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade.

Darwin and Derren shot Nykea as she was pushing a baby stroller in the 6300 block of South Calumet in Parkway Garden at 3:30 p.m, while on her way to register her children at the Dulles School of Excellence.

Nykea was pronounced dead at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Nykea's baby and a man she was walking with weren't hurt in the shooting.

Nykea was hit in the crossfire as Darwin and Derren tried to shoot a man who dropped off women at a house in their neighborhood.

They targeted him only because they could tell he was not from the area.

Darwin Sorrells, **** spent three years in state prison for 2013 convictions of receiving, possessing or selling a stolen vehicle and for unlawful use or possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.

He was paroled in early February.
