The story starts with McConnell asleep in bed, naked, around 2:00 a.m.
His wife woke him up and told him that someone just crashed into Kafe Parea, the fish and chips shop right across the street from where they live.
McConnell jumped out of bed, put his underwear on backwards and let the house to find out what happened.
By this time, the person who allegedly crashed into the shop was walking back to his car as if he'd already fled the scene and forgot something.
[undefined] McConnell confronted him, the robber told him that he fell asleep behind the wheel.
The driver who crashed into the shop then started walking up the road.
McConnell followed him telling him that he couldn't just flee the scene.
The driver responded by saying, "Don't try to be a hero."
McConnell told him that he wasn't trying to be a hero, but the police are coming to investigate the scene.
The driver fled the scene anyway.
So McConnell got into his purple car and chased him with his underwear on backwards.
As the police came, McConnell flashed at the burglar and pointed them in the right direction.
He became a superstar after Today News interviewed him. Their Facebook video has received over 20 million views. [undefined]
