Chris Edelson is a professor and author.

[0]He is an assistant professor of government at American University's School of Public Affairs as well as a Director of the school's Politics, Policy, and Law Scholars Program and a Fellow at its Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies.

His teaching and research interests include presidential powers especially as they relate to national security and the U.S.

Constitution.

His first book, Emergency Presidential Power: From the Drafting of the Constitution to the War on Terror, was published by the University of Wisconsin Press in fall 2013.

[1]His second book, Power Without Constraint: The Post 9/11 Presidency and National Security was published in spring 2016.

Edelson has a B.A. from Brandeis University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

He is a critic of Donald Trump and Steve Bannon, firing off angry tweets and blog posts about them.

In February 2017, Edelson wrote an editorial alleging inhumanity by immigration officials implementing U.S.

President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration. [0]

Edelson wrote in U.S.

News & World Report that Obama would not be on firm constitional grounds if he closed the Guantanamo Bay detention facility with an Executive order.
