Chómpiras

Chómpiras

El Chómpiras is a fictional Television character, played by Roberto Gómez Bolaños for the television series Chespirito whose real name is Aquiles Esquivel Madrazo; however, Chómpiras himself claimed to also be called Parangaricutiridolfo Parangaricutigodinez,Eric Fuente, Mimí and Luisa Lane, on different occasions. It is in the chapter "Detenidos en la comandancia/ Peluquería en la calle " of 1993, where Chómpiras claimed to be called Mimí, because his father was a fan of the adventures of Mouse Miguelito and because when he was born they thought he was a woman. It was not until he was 14 years old when they realized that he was Actually a boy, because instead of stealing a doll, he stole the sales clerk, one day when his Father took him to steal a Toy store. In a 1990 episode about horoscopes, El Chómpiras mentions that he was born on October 12, the same day Christopher Columbus arrived in America in 1492. In another episode aired in 1992 when he was about to marry Doña Espotaverderona (Chimoltrufia's mother), he states that he has a cousin named Eloy, Eloy Madrazo and then in another one when he was dealing with a loose bandit nicknamed "El Chamois", he was flattering him with a blonde woman Played by María Antonieta de las Nieves in 1983 and another redhead played by Maritza Aldaba in 1992.[1]

According to the Chapters of Los Caquitos (1986) - "La señora de enfrente", El Chómpiras claims to have 4 children who "curiously inherited the profession" of their father: that of a thief. He also claims to have had 5 wives in the course of his life who shared his Sorrosw and joys.

On one occasion when he and Botija try to rob an American woman and she screams in English asking for help, he says he has a cousin named Socorro.

And in the epidio "La Muerte del Botija" La Chimoltrufia the wife of Botija tells Chompiras that the night before Botija had come with Dolores and Chompiras tells her "my cousin."[2]

It is a character played by Chespirito from the theatrical play "11 y 12", he is a trailer driver very similar physically to Chompiras but he doesn't like to be foul-mouthed, as he says.

Also in a 1993 episode, when he was looking for a job at the Buenavista Hotel, he mentions that he had a twin brother who died of starvation a few days after he was born.[3]

Details

In the 1970's, Chómpiras had as his Companion "Peterete" played by Ramón Valdés, this was a person with a somewhat strange personality and an even stranger walk, since he made a movement Imitation the Pink Panther.

In their adventures, they tried to do all kinds of robberies, either entering other people's Houses, participating in smuggling, arresting people, among others, but none of them were completed; Until they could be seen in a church, in order to get away from that bad life.[4]

These great characters never reached a formal agreement and Peterete's patience was not enough to put up with his friend, so every time there was a mistake and to calm the mood, Peterete would take off Chómpiras' cap, Comb his hair and punish him with a slap (also called corrective).

Some other friend of Chómpiras in the program were El Botija and El Cuajináis.

In 1979, for reasons of life, he left his friend " El Peterete" and met with another friend, "El Botija" (who treated him the same or worse than El Peterete).

As the Series approached its peak, "el Chómpiras" and "el Botija", Played by Édgar Vivar, tried to perpetrate robberies, which ended up being frustrated or by coincidence or inconveniences associated with the ineptitude of both, however analyzing the Synopsis of the program "el Botija" had intentions to reform and lead a good life, this was usually one of its Objectives. The same applied to "el Chómpiras" who always agreed with his accomplice.[5]

Both characters gained the sympathy of the viewers as the Years went by because "el Chómpiras" was inept for many things perhaps due to his innocence as a child, while "el Botija" was a little more mature thinking about his future, so as the years went by both characters showed an effort to reform and give a good to Society.

They did this by leaving their profession of "rateros" (thieves) and accepted to work for Señor Lucho's or Señor "Cecilio Buenavista's" hotel, depending on the Season of the show. La Chimoltrufia, Botija's wife, convinced the "Caquitos" to become honest people after watching an episode of Chavo del Ocho in 1982 "Un Ratero en la Vecindad" on the TV set they had stolen from Doña Nachita. They dedicated themselves to various jobs: hairdressers, shoeshine boys, milkmen, porters, until Licenciado Morales got them work, first at the "Hotel Lucho", managed by Don Lucho and at its closing at the "Hotel Buenavista", managed by Don Cecilio Buenavista. La Chimoltrufia as chambermaid, Botija as elevator Operator (the elevator did not go up when he was inside) and Chómpiras as Bellboy, always demanded tips from the guests and tried to sell them something like the newspaper, for example.

Chómpiras never contradicts the others, playing along, even if they treat him badly.

Example of this, when they tell him that he is Brutus, he says "I am what?" - Brutus - Ah, yes, yes

Phrases

"Take it on the kind side."

(From 1984 onwards)

"I'm what!!!....

Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah."

(From the last episodes of 1987 onwards).

"No, man!

No!".

"Why should I say no, if yes".
