Chita Craft is the morning meteorologist at KHOU 11 News in Houston, Texas, specializing in weather forecasting. She joined KHOU in July 2011 and can be seen each day on KHOU 11 News This Morning.
She came to Houston from KRCR in Redding, California where she was named Best Media Personality two years in a row.[1]
Background and Education
Chita Craft is from Knoxville, Tennessee, Tennessee. She grew up playing the piano. Piano recitals made her more nervous than anything else she has ever done.[4] She moved to southern California when she was four-years-old because her dad's job transferred him there.
Her parents and brother now live in Southern California. Chita says she's very close to her family and they love to visit her in Houston! Her parents have been married for 41 years. They’ve known each other since the third grade and are the greatest example of love that I know.[2]
Chita Craft attended Arizona State University and got her Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University.
Career
Chita received her AMS Seal of Approval and her National Weather Association Seal of Approval and is a member of both organizations.
Relationship
Chita is married, has two children and a Schnauzer Dog named Doppler. Les, the Craft's first born, came along in 2017 while the second born, a girl, Ann was born 12th September, 2019[7]
Personal
While college, I went to Europe for 30 days.
While I was there, I went skydiving on a whim.
"It was a blast!"
Trivia
Chita loves to play tennis and golf.
She is an avid traveler and has been skydiving over the Swiss Alps, river rafting down the Ocoee River and rock climbing in Hume Lake.
