Azad was born in Dhadkuli village near Saharanpur, UttarPradesh in India in 1986. He completed his graduation with a degree in Bachelor of Law. He has a nickname Ravan that means Asura in Hindu Mythology. His father is Govardhan Das who was a headmaster of a school.
Career

After completing graduation, Azad started searching for a work.
Despite being the headmaster of the school, is father was often humiliated for belonging from a lower caste.
This influenced Azad to form the Bhim Army in 2014.
The objective of the fromation of the Bhim Army was to uplift the opressed class by education and create a voice for their community.
The Bhim army has started more than 300 schools in Uttar Pradesh that offer free education.
Trivia
Chandrashekhar first came to limelight in 2015 after he put a board stating, โThe Great Chamars of Dhadkauli Welcome Youโ.
His name is in one of the twenty four FIRs that was registered by the Uttar Pradesh Police for Saharanpur violence on May 9.
This led to controersy between the Thakurs and the Dalits in the village and established Chandrashekhar as the face of the Dalits in the village.
Jantar Mantar Protest

He organized a Jantar Mantar march where more than ten thousand supporters gathered for protesting against the Saharanpur Violence where more than twenty five houses of Dalits were set on fire.
The protests organized in the Capital City of India captured media attention nationwide.
