On Tuesday August 6, 2019, Houts accidentally uploaded a video to her YouTube channel showing herself hitting, seemingly spitting on and yelling at her dog. ^{[15] [16]}

When the dog excitedly jumps into the frame, Houts grows visibly angry and reprimands the dog by slapping him on the head.

The Los Angeles Police Department was made aware of the incident and are investigating Houts. ^[15]

On September 3, 2019, it was reported that police would not charge Houts.

A spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed that the case against Houts is officially closed after its Animal Cruelty Task force determined "there was no crime" committed against her Doberman.^[17]
