In 2016, host Neil Patrick Harris pointed out Cullinan's resemblance to Matt Damon.
In 2017, Cullinan handed the wrong envelope to Warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway for the announcement of Best Picture. He handed them the Best Actress envelope, which listed Emma Stone of La La Land, which caused Dunaway to announce La La Land as the winner instead of the actual winner, Moonlight. Cullinan posted a photo of Emma Stone to his Twitter account just before the Best Picture debacle took place. He has since deleted the tweets.
Before the awards, Cullinan had addressed the possibility of a mistake in an interview, since Steve Harvey had recently announced the wrong winner at the Miss Universe pageant. He said: "We would make sure that the correct person was known very quickly. Whether that entails stopping the show, us walking onstage, us signaling to the stage manager — that’s really a game-time decision, if something like that were to happen. Again, it’s so unlikely."
Personal Life
Cullinan is married to Andrea Cullinan.
