On November 1st, 2016, Brenden's body along with his girlfriend's, Annika, as reported by police were found late afternoon inside a parked car near boat ramp at Rose Valley Lake, just 80 miles from Harrisburg, the state capital. A handgun was found at the scene. ^[undefined]

The county coroner, Charles E. Kiessling Jr, has announced their deaths were self-inflicted without giving out any further details to his conclusion.

Investigators have gone on to declare their deaths a double suicide.

The relatives had been searching for the couple when their non-attendance at the school was notified.
