Boris Ivanov (born 1961) is an established businessman with an impressive career. He is the founder GPB Global Resources B.V.^[8] His exploration and production company explores for oil globally, with a special emphasis on Africa and South America.

He entered the petroleum industry in 1993 after a career as a successful diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.

He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR after obtaining a degree in International Relations.

He spent a decade serving the ministry from 1983 to 1993.

He gained significant experience through his work on US-Soviet relations.^[16] He was stationed at the Soviet embassy in Washington, D.C., which allowed him to build his international diplomacy skills. He was exposed to a large number of international issues during that time and this allowed him to grow his network of professionals across the United States and Russia.

When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Ivanov embraced the change. He left public service in 1993 and began to pursue work in the private sector. ^[2]

He began working in the petroleum industry financing business.

In 1993 he accepted a position at Unibest Bank as vice president.

He worked there until 2000 financing oil and gas projects.

He was asked to join a turn-around team at the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RSK MiG).

RSK MiG was having a hard time adapting to the new market economy and experienced financial hardship.

Ivanov traveled across the globe in search of new markets and contracts that would generate revenue for the company.

For two years, Ivanov served as deputy director general and returned RSK MiG to a place of financial certainty.

In 2004, He became advisor to the chairman of Gazprombank OJSC.

This position required him to oversee projects under development in different countries and to expand Gazprom internationally.

Between 2007 and 2011, he lead Gazprom EP (Exploration and Production) International B.V.

The purpose of this company was to gain new overseas upstream projects for the Gazprom group.

In 2010, Ivanov achieved success through a discovery of gas in Algeria. It was the first time Gazprom had made such a discovery outside of the former USSR.

In 2011, after leaving the Gazprom group, Ivanov became Founder of GPB Global Resources B.V.

In his current position, he and his team have evaluated over 200 projects.^[9] Of those evaluated, Ivanov has moved forward with 11 exploration projects and had two major successes.

In 2016, GPB Global Resources B.V was bought out and Ivanov became a major shareholder.
