Asiff Hirji
Asiff Sherali Hirji (August 19 1966) is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Coinbase, and is based in San Francisco, California. [1]
Early Life and Education
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Hirji graduated from the University of Calgary in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario in 1992. [1]
Career
From 1987 to 1990, Hirji worked as a software developer at IBM Canada. After finishing business school in 1992, Hirji founded the Mitchell Madison Group, a financial and technology strategy consultancy that he sold to USWeb seven years later. In 1999 Hirji founded Netfolio, an online investment advisor, where he served as President and Chief Investment Officer until it too was sold in 2001. Hirji briefly worked as a Partner at Bain & Company's IT and Financial Services practices, and then in 2002 joined TD Ameritrade, where he rose from Chief Information Officer to Chief Operating Officer and ultimately President. From 2007 to 2013 Hirji served as a Partner at TPG Capital, where he led investments in technology, media, e-commerce and financial services companies. Hirji founded his own investment firm, Inflekxion, LLC, in 2013. From 2014 to 2017 Hirji was Chief Restructuring Officer at Hewlett-Packard while serving as a Senior Advisor to Bain Capital and Operating Advisor to Andreessen Horowitz. Hirji also taught a popular course in Private equity at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business from 2012 to 2017. Hirji joined Coinbase as President and Chief Operating Officer in late 2017. [1]
