When he had to be bed-ridden for four months due to his condition, he used the period of time to learn how to code and create a forum to chat with friends, called smosh.com.[1]
The project turned out to be profitable; he bought his first car from the money generated by ads on the website.
He is also well-known for his animations that he made on Newgrounds in early 2003. [3]
The videos went viral gained quite a large number of views; they even appeared on YouTube FrontPage (a now-defunct feature).
The success of their lip-sync videos inspired then to begin writing and producing comedic videos, which mainly involved various skits.
These skits which they started in early 2006 helped then gain success on YouTube.
He has his own self-named channel, “AnthonyPadilla” which he launched in 2006, the channel however became inactive in 2013, he did not comment as to whether or not the channel will continue.
He later returned to uploading videos on the channel in 2016, he uploaded lots of vlogs which sometimes featured his then-girlfriend, Miel.
On June 14, 2017, he was announced that he had left Smosh, he had uploaded a video on the Smosh channel, which featured Ian, where he announced his departure, they also discussed the times they've had together.[2]
Shortly after on the same day, he uploaded a video on his personal channel discussing more in-depth on why he left Smosh.
He stated that Smosh has evolved into a company/brand (Defy Media) and that other people are now controlling the creative decisions people make (including his) and as the person that created Smosh, he wasn't able to create videos the same way as before 2015.[2]
He stated that his ideas had to go through a filter and that with him being forced whatever he was given to do obviously made him unable to express what he had in mind.
He had missed the time when Smosh was basically just him and Ian, with having a lot more creative freedom.
He also stated that he had this feeling for a long time but he still stayed for longer just in case things might change but they never did.
