Ann MacMillan
Ann MacMillan (July 22, 1946) is a retired Canadian Journalist and the former Bureau Chief for CBC News' London Bureau before retiring in December 2013. She spent more than 40 years in the news business. She is married to British broadcaster and historian Peter Snow, CBE.

Ann MacMillan is the daughter of Dr. Robert MacMillan and Eluned *(Lyn) Carey Evans. Dr. MacMillan is a retired cardiologist and co-founded the world’s first coronary unit at the Toronto General Hospital. Her maternal grandfather was Maj. Sir Thomas J. Carey Evans, Kt., M.C., F.E.C.S., who served with the Indian Medical Service Her maternal grandmother, Olwen Elizabeth, Lady Carey Evans, DBE, was the eldest daughter of UK Prime Minister David Lloyd George and his first wife, Dame Margaret Lloyd George.
MacMillan's sister Margaret MacMillan is a highly regarded author and academic, currently serving as the Warden of St Antony’s College and a Professor of International History at the Un iversity of Oxford. She has three brothers: Tom MacMillan, the longest serving President and CEO of CIBC Mellon, Dr. Robert MacMillan Jr., the Director of the Robson Clinic at Toronto Rehab; and the youngest brother, David MacMillan, is an energy consultant based in London, England.
MacMillan graduated from North Toronto Collegiate Institute and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
Career
MacMillan began her career reporting with CHIN Radio in Toronto before become the co-host of a new CBC weekly programme about senior citizens, called New Direction, in 1972. She then moved onto Global News as a national reporter in 1973, one of their first female reporters, before moving to CTV News in 1975. She transferred to CTV’s Montreal bureau, becoming it’s bureau chief in 1975. A year later, in 1976, she became CTV’s London bureau chief.

MacMillan returned to the CBC in 1981 as a correspondent for CBC’s then flagship news show, The Journal, which was anchored by Barbara Frum. She covered some of the world’s biggest stories including the Reunification of Germany, the Irish peace process, the D-Day anniversaries, and the fall and rise of the British Royal Family.
As bureau chief, she managed the very busy and vibrant CBC London bureau, dispatching Canadian journalists around the world.

MacMillan’s signature on-air pieces for CBC News Network involved showing the latest headlines from the British press and tabloids, a practice colleague and CBC News Host Heather Hiscox called “Ann Mac-ing”.
MacMillan also spearheaded the CBC’s coveted London Internship Programme, which gave aspiring Canadian journalists the opportunity to spend six weeks working with some of the countries most revered journalists and filing their own stories.
Personal Life
The Snow/MacMillan Family
MacMillan met her husband, British broadcaster and historian Peter Snow (C.B.E.), at a Commonwealth conference for Canada in 1973, while he was working for ITN. They have three children together, British television presenter Dan Snow, Rebecca Snow and Kate Snow.
She has four grandchildren.
