Prom Controversy

Aniya was removed from her high school's prom for wearing a suit rather than a dress.

Aniya planned on attending her high school's prom in a suit as she prefers more masculine clothing.

The school dress code consisted of pants and shirts for both girls and boys.

Aniya decided that she would wear a suit for a prom.

However in an email a month before the event the school sent an email clarifying the dress code and stating that girls must wear dresses.

However by that time Aniya's mother had already purchased a suit for her to wear, so Aniya attended the prom in her suit.

Aniya said a school official took her by the arm and said she was going to call the police, so she left the prom ^[1].

The school related made a Facebook post explaining that the school dress code explained that girls must wear dresses. The post also stated that the school had made it aware that those who did not meet the dress code would not be allowed in.

After hearing about how Aniya was kicked out of her school's prom, York City School District officials invited Aniya Wolf to their prom.
