Donald Trump Critic
For the past couple of months, Angela has been a heated debater on the topics concerning Trump, and the racism that has started to emerge in the United States of America.
[21]In a panel discussion she has raised her voice in saying the following: "the fact that you have allowed in a member of an excluded minority in a strange way gives you license to continue the old pattern of discrimination.β
She has also spoken about Trump expressing his sexism in the media, and the way that he has spoken about his daughter, and how throughout the years he has developed a reputation for putting women down.
[17]Angela, in this discussion, does not allow the other women to speak about anecdotes without providing concrete facts.
She has also spoken about the gun violence that occurred in the 2016 Dallas Police Protest Shooting and Pulse Orlando Shooting (2016) as being a bi-partisan issue.
During a panel discussion on CNN, upon hearing about the arguments about the military influence Hillary Clinton has on foreign affairs by Kayleigh McEnany, Angela begins to roll her eyes, and when she actually begins to point out the accomplishments of Donald Trump- her eyes almost begin to pop out.
TSA Pat-Down
On December 16, 2016, Angela Rye shared a video on Twitter of a pat-down she received by a TSA agent at the the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
[9] [22]After Rye was randomly selected for secondary screening, Rye said she was told she could not board her flight unless her vagina was patted down after what was seen on a scanner.
[16]The TSA's manager called for a police officer to escort her out of the airport.
When the police officer arrived to understand the situation, he and Rye came to an agreement that she would go through the process if the officer recorded the secondary screening; the officer agreed.
According to Rye, she wanted to send the recording to the TSA to "raise questions about the process and challenge the agency on whether these incidents of violation truly prevent terrorist attacks."
