After attending public school in Charleston, South Carolina, Alice attended Phillips Exeter Academy, but was expelled from Exeter in May of 2006 for cheating and plagiarism. Because she had already been accepted to Brown University before her expulsion, Brown still allowed her to matriculate on the condition that she wait a year and join the following class as well as complete a mandatory decision-making program with a psychologist, Cora Ezzell. After spending the following year in Paris, Alice started at Brown, where she studied Comparative Literature. At Brown, Alice was the Metro editor of the College Hill Independent. [2][16]
Career
Alice started her career as a Huffington Post reporter on the retail business beat. She's also had a stint as an editor at Vestoj. Afterwards, Alice started freelancing and her work began popping up in publications like The New York Times, T Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, the Outline, Smithsonian, n+1, The New Yorker, The Cut, Garage, Vice, Elle, The Village Voice and more.
