Ají Picante (TV Show) Ají picante[1] was a Venezuelan entertainment program that was broadcast by Radio Caracas Televisión RCTV, C.A. (RCTV) from 2000 to 2010 on Thursdays at 8:00pm, after the RCTV signal went off the air for the second time.
History
In the year 2000 the program began its transmissions being its animators Andreína Álvarez and Héctor Peña later would incorporate to the cast Kerly Ruiz, Arturo de los Ríos and Wendy Bermejo, the program maintained a great audience at national and international level being that their sections were attractive and tried to give to understand certain gossip and realities as the one that is made every year with the candidates to the Miss and Mister Tourism Venezuela, where the program was in charge to ask to the and the aspirants about many regions of the country.
Soon the program took a big turn that made it popular by mixing comedy and two-way jokes and the program tended to broadcast live from certain parties and celebrations in Venezuela keeping it as one of the best programs on RCTV[5].
After the closure of Radio Caracas Television, the program remained in limbo because most of the problems of the channel prevented continuous transmissions, after this the return of the program was in 2007 with a new cast but its transmissions were short lived.
During its development it started as Ají picante and had a version called Ají dulce, and then the name of the program was simplified to just Ají.
Format
Ají picante shows the latest from the rumbas all over Venezuela, the most irreverent moments of the stars, the hottest secrets of show business, the hottest challenges and the latest in daring fashion.
Sections
"La Rumba del Mes" (The Party of the Month): A ranking will be shown at the end of the month to choose the best party.
"Ají Aficionado" (Amateur pepper): We will invite the rumberos to record their own party and send it to be broadcasted on TV.
"Allanamiento Ají" (Raid on chili): The gang takes a party by surprise.

Variant
Since 2013, the Televen network, which acquired part of RCTV's original programming, has been producing a program of a new version, very similar, called El Avispero, which is the new edition of the original Ají Picante with a new cast and more sections that has currently obtained good approval from the Venezuelan public since it features interviews with national and international celebrities and ordinary citizens, broadcasts from film premieres and the black humor of the original version persists.
