In The Media
Racist Rant
On the morning of Wednesday, May 16, 2018, Schlossberg was captured on video camera arguing with a manager of Fresh Kitchen in Manhattan regarding the use of the Spanish language by the Latino staff workers to communicate with other customers.
He goes on to say several fiery comments to one of the Latino workers concerning their citizenship in the United States. The video was shared on Social media and has since been shared throughout other mediums. [1]
Schlossberg went on to say the following comments:
Every person I listen to—he's speaking it, she's speaking it. This is America...Your clients and your staff are speaking Spanish to staff when they should be speaking English...My guess is they're undocumented, so my next call is to ICE to have each one of them taken out of my country. If they have the balls to come here and live off my money—I pay for their welfare. I pay for their ability to be here.
He eventually walks away leaving the Latino staff worker angry, who then shouted expletives.
The video was shared on Twitter which then got the attention of Shaun King who helped in making it go viral.
Schlossberg had also been filmed insulting YouTube host Willie Morris (a white man) in 2016, in another video that had gone viral.
Reaction & Apology

On May 22, 2018, he tweeted an apology:
To the people I insulted, I apologize. Seeing myself online opened my eyes - the manner in which I expressed myself is unacceptable and is not the person I am. I see my words and actions hurt people, and for that I am deeply sorry. While people should be able to express themselves freely, they should do so calmly and respectfully. What the video did not convey is the real me. I am not racist. One of the reasons I moved to New York is precisely because of the remarkable diversity offered in this wonderful city. I love those country and this city, in part because of immigrants and the diversity of cultures immigrants bring to this country. Again, my sincerest apologies to anyone and everyone I hurt. Thank you.
