Indiahikes is primarily a trek documentation organization founded by Arjun Majumdar and Sandhya Chandrashekarayya in October, 2008, with the vision to make information about trek trails accessible to everybody for free.
Their idea is to popularise trekking as a sport in India.
The organisation conducts various explorations in search of new trails throughout the year and constantly keeps updating established trails.
With the information gathered through years of documentation, the organisation conducts treks to some of the toughest trails in India, Nepal and South Africa.
Indiahikes has been instrumental in bringing changes to the trekking community and has created vast employment opportunities for the people in the remote areas.

History
Arjun majumdar and Sandhya Chandrashekarayya founded Indiahikes in 2008 in Bangalore.
Before starting Indiahikes, Arjun found that it was almost impossible to find information about treks online.
The inaccessibility of this information held public back from going on treks independently.
In his initial years of trekking he began documenting treks and new routes so that anyone could read his documentation and go on the trek.
This has been the prime philosophy of the organisation ever since and prevails to date.
Green trails
is an integral part of Indiahikes' philosophy.
It concentrates on leaving every trail in a better condition than before.
This stems from the knowledge that there is no waste disposal system in the mountains.
Every little bit of non-biodegradable waste has to be brought down to a city, where garbage can be treated appropriately.
To do this, Indiahikes provides every trekker with an eco bag, so that he/she can pick up all the dry waste that he sees on the trail.
Every camp site is provided with waste collection bins, which are then send directly to the cities far away to various waste management industries.
Hiking Club
The Hiking Club is an initiative by Indiahikes, which focuses on children learning from the outdoors.
"Children should be hiking.
Right now, they aren't," is the simple sentence that Arjun uses to justify the Hiking Club.
Outdoor learning, he believes, plays a vital role in transforming a child into a motivated learner, a self-disciplined and confident individual.
Through the Hiking Club, Indiahikes organises hikes for school children in and around Bangalore, and also in the Himalayas.
It also instills in children a good deal of care for the environment.
During these activities, children watch movies about the world of mountains.
They interact with mountaineers, from whom they can hear about exciting first-hand experiences.
They learn to read maps and GPS systems, and are taught to use basic equipment for hiking, such as tents and sleeping bags.
