ForeScout Technologies, Inc. is a network security company based in California's Silicon Valley. Its products are designed to see devices accessing an organization’s network, control those devices by allowing, denying or limiting network access, and orchestrate network security by sharing information with and automating workflows amongst leading security, mobility and IT management products. The company's technology is used primarily in the financial services, government, technology, education, and healthcare markets. ForeScout was named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Access Control [1] in four consecutive reports, and recently made the list of the Silicon Review’s 20 fastest growing security companies. History
Established on January 1, 2000, ForeScout is headquartered in San Jose, California and has offices in London, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv and Sydney. The company markets its products via resellers around the globe. ForeScout claims more than 2,000 customers* in over 60 countries use its products to improve their network security and maintain regulatory compliance. In 2015, ForeScout named industry executive Michael DeCesare as CEO. [3]
Products
The company’s flagship product, ForeScout CounterACT®, dynamically identifies and evaluates network devices and applications the instant they connect to an organization’s network.
Offered as an out-of-band physical appliance or as a software solution, CounterACT provides real-time visibility into IP-connected devices—managed and unmanaged, corporate and personal, wired and wireless.
Because CounterACT doesn’t require endpoint agents, it additionally discovers non-traditional IoT and personally owned BYOD devices.
CounterACT determines the user, owner and operating system, as well as device configuration, software, services, patch state and the presence of security agents.
In addition, it continuously scans the network and monitors the activity of every device, and provides the basis for automating and enforcing a wide array of policy-based controls for network access, endpoint compliance and mobile device security.
The ForeScout ControlFabric® Architecture, which is a set of open integration technologies, enables ForeScout CounterACT® and popular infrastructure security management tools to exchange information and more efficiently mitigate a wide variety of network, security and operational issues.
This enables organisations to enforce unified network security policies, reduce vulnerability windows by automating system-wide threat response, and gain higher return on investment from existing security tools while saving time through workflow automation.
More than 70 different hardware and software products* take advantage of CounterACT capabilities through ControlFabric Architecture and ForeScout Base and Extended Modules.

Technology
ForeScout’s products function at both the network and endpoint levels.
At the network level, their products can detect which kinds of devices are connected to the network and can provide network access control for each device based on various parameters like the ownership of the device, who's using the device, the location of the device, and the security posture of the device.
At the endpoint level, ForeScout’s products can detect whether the computer is compliant with an organization’s security policy and can fix common security issues like a broken security agent, a misconfiguration, or a malicious process running on the endpoint.
