Dr. U. Bapputty Haji (Arabic : الحاج د يو بافوتي , Malayalam : ഡോ. യു. ബാപ്പുട്ടി ഹാജി ), a village physician by profession, was a think tank of Malabar Muslims and one of the founders of Darul Huda Islamic University, founder leader of Sunni Mahal Federation (SMF). [2]

Early life
Dr. Baputti-Haji was born in 1929 September as the son of Kunjaalan Kutti Vaidyar and Puthukkutti Kunchikkadiumma in Chemmad.
His full name was Kunjavaran Kutti and Baputti was his nickname.
His father was one of the physicians.
He was brought up with Islamic background and was enrolled in Islamic institution.
After the establishment of Tirurangadi-orphanage, his father admitted him in the orphanage.
Kunjalan Kutti was one of the committee members of the orphanage.
Baputti Haji studied the primary education from his own father and completed the Islamic studies under Nilimaavukkal Kunchi Usthad.
He was enrolled in Nilimavukkal A.M.L.P-school for primary education and in Tirurangadi A.U.P-school for upper education.
He studied at Tirurnagadi Noorul Islam Madrassa and Parappil Madrsathul Muhammadiyya.
In his 13th age, he completed Islamic learning from Vilakkandathil Muhyadheen Kutti Haji and MN Kunjutti Musliyar by studying famous Pathu Kithab, Fathul Mueen and Noorul Absar.
After successfully completing SSLC, he perused higher studies in medicine and also absorbed basic knowledge in Sanskrit language.
Family life
Dr. Baputty Haji led an exemplary family life by bringing forth Islamic family values with his six children and sixty-one grandchildren.
He loved each member, and tried his best to take care of all the work.
He supports them to enter the sites of speech or religious occasion.
He is also keen on agriculture as well and supported their children do to please him.
He forced his children to study modern subjects such as English and mathematics with giving more priority for religious education.
Baputti Haji adopted poor children and helped them study with their own value.
After his death, his elder son U Shafi Haji took the responsibility of Darul Huda Islamic University.
Demise
After a long battle with age-related diseases, he died on 22 July 2003 at his own residence.
His body was laid to rest at the varsity campus.
