Doreen Virtue
Doreen Virtue (born April 29, 1958) is an American author and a "folk psychology motivational speaker". She is the founder of Angel Therapy, a type of New Age therapy based "on the premise that communicating with angels is the key to healing. Angel therapists claim they can facilitate healing by helping their patients get in touch with angels who'll guide the patients in the right direction." Virtue has written over 50 books including oracle card decks on the subject of angels and additional New Age topics before changing her perspective to focus on Biblical teachings.
Education and early career
Virtue states of herself "Doreen worked as a psychotherapist specializing in healing eating disorders, until... 1995".
According to website 'Best Psychic Readings' she had earlier worked as editor of a local newspaper 'The San Marcos Outlook' from leaving high school apparently until taking up therapy.
Virtue received an associate degree in liberal arts from Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, California, and obtained a B.A. in Psychology in 1986 and an M.A. in Counseling psychology in 1988 from Chapman University in Orange, California. (Master's programmes in psychology aren't accredited by the American Psychological Association; accreditation is reserved for doctoral programmes and internships.) Virtue got a Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from California Coast University in 1996. (CCU received accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council in 2005, and is accredited for its programme is Educational Psychology. CCU isn't accredited by the American Psychological Association.) The subject of her dissertation was the tendency of adults who suffered childhood sexual abuse to develop addictions like eating disorders.
According to the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Doreen L. Virtue held a licence as a Registered Psychological Assistant that was voluntarily cancelled January 31, 1993, re-issued July 13, 1993 and again voluntarily cancelled September 16, 1993.
A licence as a Marriage & Family Therapist Intern issued September 6, 1989.

Doreen began publishing psychology and self-help books on topics like child custody and eating disorders before changing the focus of her work and writing to spiritually-oriented and new thought topics.
Virtue wrote for the publishing company Hay House and had a number of books, audio-books and oracle card decks, published with them on numerous topics like angels, fairies, indigo children, and ascended masters. Virtue offered spiritually-oriented classes and workshops, hosts a call-in radio show on Hay House Radio, and spoke at new thought conferences, including Mishka Production's Celebrate Your Life! and Hay House's annual I Can Do It! conference.
Current career
Virtue now writes books about Christianity as she publicly announced in 2017 she would turn her focus to the Bible instead of New Age beliefs that she has since denounced [20]. In a statement she said "Please do not buy my old books or cards, as I have repented and denounced them after Jesus saved me and opened my eyes to new age deception".[21]
Personal life
Virtue was born on April 29, 1958 to a Christian Scientist family in California. She reports clairvoyant abilities like seeing and conversing with spirits after she had been a young child. In her twenties, she married Larry Schenk, with whom she had her two sons, Grant and Charles. Virtue has said that Schenk was possessive and emotionally abusive, leading to the couples' eventual divorce.
Her second husband was Dwight Virtue, whom she divorced for undisclosed reasons.
Her published autobiographical material doesn't state what her maiden name was prior to marrying Mr. Virtue.
In 1995, Doreen Virtue married Michael Tienharra, the owner of a small art gallery in Newport Beach, CA.
She had been divorced from Michael Tienharra in 1999.
Virtue was married and divorced for a fourth time to a man named Steven Farmer, fellow Hay House author, they were divorced in 2009.
She has been a vegan after 1996.
