2016 Philadelphia Shooting of Police Officers September 16, 2016
On September 16, 2016 at around 11:20 p.m., two police officers were shot and a suspect was killed in West Philadelphia.
The Shooting
An idenfitied female sergeant with the Philadelphia Police Department was shot several times.
[0] A University of Pennsylvania police officer was hit in the leg and buttocks.
[0] The officers were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.
The officers are reportedly alert and talking.
[0] Two civilians were also injured in the shooting.
One of them has been identified as a female security guard.
[0] One suspect was shot and killed.
Perpetrator
The gunman walked up to the female sergeant’s car and just fired.
He then shot multiple times into a car, critically injuring a male and female civilian, and then continued to an alley.
There, a gun battle ignited with police.
Officers then engaged him in gunfire.
The gunman was then shot by police and was dead at the scene.
The suspect left a note saying his hatred of Police officer s. [-1] [0]
