Dr. Wandia Njoya is a Lecturer whose teaching and research interests cover gender, culture and politics of Africa and African Diasporas, particularly as they are reflected in literature and film.
Currently, Wandia is a Senior Lecturer of Literature and French at Daystar University and Head of Daystar University's Department of Language and Performing Arts. Previously, she worked at Université Marc Bloch, Matuga Girls High School and other establishments.
Wandia is the Associate Member of Marketing Society of Kenya, Caribbean Philosophers Association, African Studies Association, African Literature Association, and Executive Committee Member of Kenya Oral Literature Association.
Wandia is inspired by Frantz Fanon, Micere Mugo, Nikki Giovanni, Lewis Gordon, Tiyambe Zeleza, Malcolm X, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, Queen Nzinga, Mary Muthoni Nyanjiru, Cheikh Anta Diop and many others. She is also part of great group of people called Ajenda Afrika. The group was started by Muoki Mbunga, then an undergraduate student, to provide a forum where people could interact with African perspectives on various issues.
Wandia is married to Chris Lyimo.
