History
Victoria's Secret was founded by Roy Raymond on June 12, 1977. His intent was to create a space where "men could buy lingerie and not be made to feel deviant." In 1982 businessman Leslie Wexner purchased Victoria's Secret for $1 million USD. Wexner revamped the Victoria's Secret catalogue and repositioned the retailer in a way that made it more appealing to women. By 1995 Victoria's Secret netted $1.9 billion USD and had 670 stores nationwide. [10]

After selling Victoria's Secret to Wexner, Raymond started a children's retail store. It went bankrupt in 1986. In 1993 Raymond killed himself by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.
