The stripped down power trio features Chapman Stickist/Vocalist Sly Geralds, Saxophonist/Vocalist Kath Bryans, and percussionist Dionna DeRose. The Sly Stick Trio blends Soulful male/female vocals, rootsy, groove driven Chapman Stick, Sultry/Progressive Sax lines, and edgy percussion on a strip down drum kit.
The Sly Stick Trio’s music attributes to the trickster, in that only three people are producing such a large sound. As passionate advocates in this recently stripped down age of music, The Sly Stick Trio is trailblazing the parameters and stretching the limitations of how small a full-fledged band can actually be. Fans are always amazed by the huge sound coming from only three musicians.

The Sly Stick Trio ' music is an epic blend of Ska, Funk, Soul, and rock. Geralds, originally from Nyack, NY, met Bryans and DeRose in 2011 on the New York City Music scene. They played in all the Village hot spots Like, The Bitterend NYC, Terra Blues, and Arlene’s Grocery to names a few. After play together in many other groups they then joined forces and became The Sly Stick Trio. An Explosive clash of Rock and soul inspired guitar with funk/Ska bass licks played on the Chapman stick, edgy percussion, smooth/Bluesy Sax,and clever lyrics and Soulful vocal harmonies follow suit. Sly Stick Trio pulls inspiration from the music they love – Soul, Ska, Funk, and blues, circa 1960 hot driving Funk (Sly and The Family Stone/James Brown) and American Soulful -lyrics that poke fun at society and examine the state of the world.
