Back in 2010, Alex Stiff formed The Fill Ins in Roanoke VA as a project with 3 other ex-members of another local band they were all part of. After a few shows and an EP, the quickly disbanded due to internal conflicts. Alex uprooted from Roanoke and moved back to his home in Charlotte NC to start fresh with a new sound and attitude.
The band had a few bumps and rough spots including long breaks, lack of shows and different lineup changes throughout the following years, but in late 2013 have finally settled with the powerhouse of Mikey Black on lead guitar, Captain Nunn on bass, Matt McCoy on drums and Alex Stiff keeping the band rolling after all these years on vocals and rhythm guitar.

In mid 2014 after some rough demos, EPs and singles; they were picked up by Scat Boy Records and released their full debut album "Hipster Killers" and was quickly voted "Top 5 Best Albums of 2014" on www.MyGlobalMind.com, received positive reviews from online sources such as Shutter 16 and got radio rotation on 106.5 THE END, Stench Radio and collage radio stations across the south east.
In 2015, as the band geared up for their new album “5th time’s The Charm”; Giovannics Magazine listed them as “Band of the Month” for May 2015. The 1st single from 5th Time’s The Charm was released (Spit In My Face) and created quite a buzz; including regular rotation on both local and regional radio stations and received glowing reviews from reviewers across the nation.
