Strauss Zelnick founded ZMC, originally known as ZelnickMedia, in 2001. Working there, he is responsible for originating, structuring and monitoring investments. He currently represents ZMC as a director of Education Networks of America and on the board of Alloy, L.L.C.
Previously, Strauss Zelnick worked at Cast & Crew Entertainment Services, L.L.C. and Naylor L.L.C. He also served as Chairman and CEO of Columbia Music Entertainment, Chairman of ITN, Chairman of Direct Holdings Worldwide and OTX.
Before joining BMG, in 1993-1995, Strauss was a President and CEO of Crystal Dynamics. Prior to that, he spent several years working as a President and Chief operating officer of 20th Century Fox, where he managed all aspects of Fox's worldwide motion picture production and Distribution business.
Previously, Strauus Zelnick served for three years at Vestron Inc., two years as a President and Chief operating officer. He also was a Vice president of International Television Sales at Columbia Pictures in 1983-1986.
Currently, he is an associate member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, has served on the Board of directors of the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America and is a Trustee Emeritus of Wesleyan University.
Since 1990, Strauss is married to Wendy J. Belzberg. The couple has three children.
In 1979-1983, Strauss was a student of Harvard Business School and obtained MBA there. During these years he also studied at the Harvard Law School and received JD degree. Prior to that, in 1979, he graduated Summa cum laude from Wesleyan University with B.A in English and Psychology.
