Steven Jay Watts is a resident of Seattle, Washington. In June 2018, Watts was arrested after being caught on video harassing a black man, calling him a "nigger" multiple times and threatening him. Watts has four prior assault convictions.   
On Friday, June 15, 2018, Steven Jay Watts was filmed harassing and threatening a black man calling him a "nigger" multiple times. The incident was filmed and posted on Facebook by Keoke Silvano who witnessed the harassment while leaving the Beacon Hill Station (Link station) in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. During the incident Steven Jay Watts wore an Air Jordan brand hoodie and Puma shorts. In less than one day the video received over 600,000 views after being shared by activist, Shaun King. 
In the one minute video, Steven Jay Watts yells at the black man to "put your hands on me, nigger." The black man responds "I'm a kill yo bitch ass." To this Watts' calls the man a "nigger" again. Watts' then complains about Keoke filming and says "you guys are dead". 
Watts also harassed a white man in the video accusing the white man of telling him to "get the fuck out of here". The white man responds by saying he did not say that and telling Watts to leave because he does not belong in the neighborhood. Watts also yells, "my people are going to bury you," during the video. Towards the end of the video Watts yells about "my president" and that "white men built these streets," multiple times. During the video Watts yells the word "nigger" more than seven times. 
On June 15, 2018 activist, Shaun King shared Keoke Silvano's video asking for his followers help in trying to identify the man in the video.  By June 16, 2018 Shaun King was able to identify the man in the video of Steven Jay Watts. 
On June 16, 2018 Police arrested Steven Jay Watts, for harassment and obstruction. Watts was held in jail on $10,000 bond. He appeared in municipal court where the judge expressed concern after the city attorney stated that Watts had four previous assault convictions.
